At Cygnia, we take health and safety seriously. It matters to our 700-strong team, and it matters to everyone we work with.
That’s the reason why we have worked hard to achieve 100% compliance with ISO45001, the International Standard that specifies the requirements for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. The systems are fundamental to the safety and wellbeing of our teams, and they are vital to creating a resilient and sustainable business.
Scoring the maximum level of compliance demonstrates our commitment to the ongoing improvements to the safety and health of our employees, visitors, suppliers and customers.
ISO45001 supersedes the British OHSAS 18001 Occupational health and safety Standard, and at Cygnia, this strengthens our Integrated Management System. As an organisation with a global reach, it’s also important that this standard is an internationally recognised benchmark.
Cygnia started the transition from OHSAS18001 to ISO45001 in January 2020, just prior to the global pandemic. Dee German, our QHSE compliance manger explains:
“COVID-19 provided a unique opportunity and real impetus for everyone in the whole business to get involved in the measures and actions necessary to keep everyone safe and prevent the spread of the virus. However, the pandemic also created challenges in delivering training and the cascading of information – practices that we take for granted when introducing change.
“The challenge was not only accepted by the team here at Cygnia but smashed with the achievement of 100% compliance to the requirements of the standard during the external audit by BSI.
“Robust quality control and safety systems underpin everything we do here at Cygnia, reassuring teams, suppliers and customers that we are a good business to work with.”
