Team Spotlight: Susi Redondo, Senior Client Manager
General NewsMaking things happen drives a fulfilling career
Coming up to 25 years at Cygnia Logistics, senior client manager, Susi Redondo, has seen lots of change. It’s that promise of variety and fresh challenges year on year that inspires her to love her job so much.
Since Susi joined the business in September 1997, she has seen first-hand how the company has become a successful eCommerce partner to some of the UK’s best-known brands, including Moonpig, Whittards of Chelsea, Feelunique and BrewDog.
Developing the right role often starts in the warehouse
Susi’s first role, like many of those who go onto to find rewarding jobs in the company, started in the warehouse; picking, packing and working on the filling line. From there, she moved to the office and processing orders, then on to become a senior manager, managing relationships from a customer service point of view, before becoming office manager and now client manager.
“I have seen the company change a lot,” says Susi.
“When I first started, we had one computer. Now, we have hundreds, giving us access to everything in real-time. I have seen rapid improvements in how we report into clients, giving them much greater visibility of the kind of information that can help them improve and grow their businesses.
“We have also gone from being a family-run company, to now part of a leading logistics provider, Wincanton. All this change makes the job easier in lots of ways, but also more evolved, we are always looking for new materials, more sustainable and innovative ways of doing things.
“My job involves continuous development and that makes it very fulfilling,” explains Susi.
The ability to make things happen is key
“There are a lot of things I love about the job, especially working with the teams – both within Cygnia and our clients’ companies. We make things happen together. It’s great that Cygnia’s a dynamic company, where we have the freedom to do that."
“Another part of the role that I love is knowing that you’re making people happy. Personalisation and the little touches we do make a lot of difference. People here care a great deal and put a lot into packing an order to ‘wow’ the person receiving it.
“We prepare for a good peak season throughout the year, and it’s great to see that all that hard work pay off.
“Sustainability is also important for customers, and we are always looking for new ways to make what we do measurably better for the environment.”
What can you expect from a career in logistics?
According to Susi: “If you like a fast-paced role, where you are constantly evolving and like to be challenged, I would definitely recommend it. If I was starting again, I would want to do the same thing. I really enjoy the job and I work with a fantastic team. It’s great to work with people who love their jobs too.
