Our roadmap to decarbonisation

Cygnia has stepped up its initiatives to deliver greater sustainability across all its operations, with the aim of doing more to help its people and the planet.

As part of Wincanton, Cygnia is aligned with all applicable wider company ambitions, and as part of these ambitions will double recycling rates from residual waste and eliminate non-packaging, single-use plastic by 2025, switch company car fleets to electric by 2026, eliminate all non-recyclable packaging by 2030 and achieve net-zero carbon by 2040.

Our newest warehouse, DC7, will be the first of our sites to become carbon neutral, thanks to the planned expansion of rooftop solar generation alongside Tesla battery storage. From the outset, the state-of-the art facility at our Northampton HQ was designed with sustainability goals in mind and also features natural warehouse daylighting, energy efficient and motion sensor LED lighting and rainwater harvesting.

Over the next 12 months, we have committed to reducing energy consumption by an average of 20% across all of our sites by switching our forklift truck fleet to EV power with lithium-ion batteries, switching to clean energy courier options where possible, investing in further solar panelling across all of our warehousing, installing electric vehicle charging points and aiming to source energy from alternative, clean energy providers wherever possible.
